Stanford beating usc, however, was the biggest upset in college football history, judged by an objective metric (the point spread, which I believe was 41.5). The Amy metric of “Cal is the worst at ____ (fill in the blank)” is not so objective.

It is a well known but “dirty secret” that your HC went to the administration and asked for lesser standards of admittance for the football players. A 2.7 was now acceptable. Then those players were funneled into the “gimmee” programs. Few if any are in engineering, pre-med, life sciences, etc. This was a lesson learned from his days at Oregon. I read this material posted on two independent networks – one by a Stanford fan and one by a UCLA fan. If it is not true then I stand corrected.

Let it go, find that inner peace, that happy place… imagine unicorns, fairies, and afternoons spent working out and drinking organic lama milk with pete carroll.

I guess my answer to that would be that, in the end, it’s just football. If you want to be proud of the fact that you have no education and support a corrupt college football team, more power to you. In the end, however, we educated Cal folk will be able to read, write, and perform mathematics at the highest levels…we’ll have good paying jobs, nice homes to come home to at night, a loving spouse, kids, grandkids, friends, nice vacations, make a difference in our communities, become good citizens, and generally live a great life. You, on the other hand, will still be here 20 years from now, uneducated, drooling, cheering on the Trojenz, trolling Cal forums, nobody to love you, no friends, no family, no home, no job, and still living in your mother’s basement. Hmmm, sounds appealing doesn’t it Amy?
