On Monday night, Cal held a special weightlifting session in which players attempted to max out and set school records. According to quarterback Nate Longshore, redshirt freshman defensive lineman Ernest Owusu broke the school record by squatting 585 pounds. He also reported that wide receiver Jeremy Ross did 525 pounds in the squat, defensive back Marcus Ezeff benched 360 pounds and center Alex Mack did a power clean of 358 pounds.

Jeremy Ross is listed as 6’0″, 185lbs….and he squatted 525 pounds?! How much muscle did he add in the offseason, or was last year’s players guide (that I looked up on Rivals.com) just not updated with accurate stats?

Berkley players are still a weak bunch. They will be worn out by the 3rd game of the season. Expect another monumental collapse.

Hey moron,
Why should anyone take anything you say seriously? You can’t even spell Berkeley, you pathetic little twit.

DBall, Ross has really bulked up. He’s now listed at 5-11, 208 pounds. I saw him at Cal’s pro day and he looked like he had really improved his strength. Still, I had the same reaction. Pretty amazing feat for a wide receiver. I asked Nate two or three times if i heard him correctly, and he said yes!

JO, Did you have a chance to talk to Marshawn about his rookie year or this upcoming season?

Nice going guys. Is is possible for us to see strength by position. For example who would the strongest players at each position by in the bench press, squat and power clean. I have been involved in strength training and power lifting for 35 years and am quite impressed at how strong and fit the Cal Football team is.

So Ross lost an inch and put on 23lbs? Maybe he’s traps are so tight they pulled his head down 1″. Nonetheless, Ross sounds like one tough dude, it’ll be good to have a physical receiver like that.

Wow, a redshirt freshman took the entire school record for all positions in the squat that is amazing. Think of what he’s going to do in the next 4 years. Does anyone know much about Ernest Owusu, from what I’m seeing it looks like he almost did not redshirt like a bunch of the 2007 class
