Thomas Williams, ILB, USC, 5th round draft pick

Here is an intriguing but not surprising lesson. Thomas Williams from Vacaville H.S. was our ILB at USC. In 4 years, he strated only a few games as a backup to Cush this year. Still when the draft rolled around he is selected in the 5th round by the Jaguars. This is a regular occurence should a player decide to play with USC. There is instant name recognition and program respect. Anthony Munoz didn’t even play his senior year due to injury and was still drafted in the first round. No other program in college football has this dynamic working for it.

Is it just coincidence but why are the first 3 QBs drafted backing up or competing against former Tedford QBs – Boller, Rodgers and Harrington. It is USC that has become QB U and more are on the way too.

I know she’s irritating and childish, but none of us can put her on our knee and give her a good spanking, so let’s ignore her like J.O. does.

Back to the subject of J.O.’s post, what happened to Tedford call of extra intensity for the last few practices? I understand that an intense practice is tough for two consecutive days, but if it is the end of spring ball, why not let the Bears go all out to test their endurance and give them some awareness of what they might need to work on. If “the Bears appear to be getting healthier”, I don’t get it.

And the fact that USC couldn’t get to the national championship with that many high draft picks is astonishing to me. LSU and Ohio State didnt have that many high picks.
