Another kickoff time

Word is in that Cal’s game at Maryland on Sept. 13 will start at 9 a.m. Pacific time and air on either ESPN or ESPN2. That makes three games that are now set, with the Bears’ games against Michigan State and USC each airing on ABC at 5 p.m. A decision on which games will appear on Fox Sports Net is coming soon, possibly by the end of the week.

The early start to the Maryland game might have an interesting effect on Cal’s practice schedule that week. In most situations, the Bears fly to the site of the game the day before. But changing to the Eastern time zone for such an early start might make Cal want to travel on Thursday. Otherwise, the players won’t have much time to get acclimated to the time change.

Remember that other trip to the Eastern Time zone?

Hope everyone learned something from the Tennessee experience.

Your colleague Eric Gilmore just wrote a nice article on former HC Theder who is now tutoring QBs. (My dad knew Theder when he was the coach at Berekly). Can you ask him why none of his QBs go to Berekly. The list includes Tuitama (Arizona) and Keller to name just a few. Here is the article.
