What to expect

I’ve talked to a few people and the general feeling is there won’t be any final resolution after today’s hearing regarding Cal’s proposed student-athlete center. There may be some ruling to some extent, but the likelihood of the injunction being lifted today is small. That’s not to say it couldn’t happen, but it’s just not likely. The speculation is we’re probably still weeks away from having the case completely resolved.

Has J.O. or anyone been to the Berkeley City Council Meetings lately? Any insight on the City of Berkeley’s motivation to file an appeal or not file an appeal if the judgment goes against the City of Berkeley?

I’m not as articulate or informed as JanKOski and sosme of the others, but I love and support the Bears. Hasn’t this stadium thing gone on long enough? Tree sitters: they should show some real courage and go to Brazil or some place where the loss of trees really matters rather than invest all of their assets protecting a 1920s landscaping project. The City of Berkeley: doesn’t the city realize how much they and city commerce owe to the University? Homeowners: what the heck? Tightwad Hill Group: typical entitlement mentality. Spend some money on tickets rather than attorneys. Native People: isn’t the whole continent a burial ground and therefore sacred? If this were Knoxville or Austin, a bunch of guys would have loaded their pickups with beer and chain saws and settled this years ago. But no, this is our beloved Berkeley.

Big D, according to KTVU news,
“The attorneys for all three plaintiffs said they would like to have at least 30 days after Miller issues her ruling to seek a stay that would continue to stop the project until they can appeal Miller’s ruling. The appeals process could take 12-15 months.”

Oops, this quote as well, “Harriet Steiner, an attorney for the city, said the Berkeley City Council wants to have enough time to consider filing an appeal if Miller rules against the plaintiffs.”

    Hey Berkeley Residences:

Protest to the city council of Berkeley. They are wasting hundred of thousands if not millions of public tax money on the nonsense of sueing and appealing the case they will not win now or ever. Save the money on puplic projects and build more library instead. Or, even better to hire more fire fighter to fight the wild fire. There are more that a million trees burned just this year alone in Cafifornia compare to some tree are to be replaced in Berkeley.

Let UC build what they need and what the Student need.
Building the training center is a goal of better life in the future, and not any ego of the plaintiffs in the law suit.
