Saturday follow-up

By Jonathan Okanes
Saturday, August 9th, 2008 at 9:47 pm in Training camp.

A couple of points after meeting with Jeff Tedford after practice:

After wide receiver Sean Young had another strong day, Tedford said the sixth-year senior is definitely in the mix to get some playing time. The Bears weren’t even sure if Young would be able to come back this season but was granted an extra year of eligibiilty by the NCAA.

“He’s probably having the most consistent camp of any of the receivers,” Tedford said. “It’s great to see becasue he’s been here a long time and and he’s finally healthy. He’s always shown flashes of being able to be a contributor.”

Following up on the decision to rest Jahvid Best, Tedford explained that it’s not only a product of Best’s return from a hip injury, but his style of play as well.

“We’ll probably do that every couple of days with Jahvid,” Tedford said. “He’s so powerful and so quick and puts so much stress on himself. He runs the distance every play. We’re going to try to keep him fresh.”

Tedford said the team plans on using much more situational scrimmaging to be as prepared as possible for the real thing.

“We’re not just going to practice mindlessly,” he said. “Understand the situation, understand the clock, understand the field area, those types of things.”

–One more note I failed to mention in my previous post: Tedford said tailback Shane Vereen did some jogging this morning and expects him to return to practice either Sunday or Monday.

…but your posts are much more grammatically correct than Andrew’s…

Andrew is such a stud, if his writing is so good already, what heights will they reach once he actually gets his college degree.

  3. Big D Says:

AWESOME! I was just at the ASUC store and noticed that 3 U$C players are on the cover of SI. Sanchez, Maluga, and Cushing. Now they have the SI curse! Sanchez just went down with the knee problem, Maluga and Cushing are next. The whole team is screwed now and they will NOT win the Pac-10 because of the SI curse. HA HA HA! Go Bears!

Here is the difference between CSUB fans and USC fans. At USC we want your best team on the field. We wish for no injury to any of the opponent’s players. To the contrary we want our opponents to be a full speed. Furthermore unlike Cal State Berkeley we do not believe in superstitions such as the SI jinx. If Mark can’t play then Mitch will.

All Big D did was to report what was breaking news at the time: “Sanchez just went down with a knee problem.” He didn’t say that he was happy about it or glad it had happened. ESPN also reported the injury to Sanchez. Does that mean they wanted him to get hurt or were happy the injury happened? This is just another case of a Cal-hating troll twisting things in an attempted put-down and looking stupid in the process.

  7. Big D Says:

That’s right, I was just commenting on the SI curse. Figuring that SI had already taken the pictures and wrote the story before Sanchez got hurt isn’t my fault. I didn’t create the bad luck that comes with the SI cover. I’d just ignore the troll next time. Maybe the troll should be mad at Caroll for allowing those three to pose for the SI cover. Don’t hate, troll, don’t hate.

  8. Johnny Says:

Actually Big D said “Awesome”, and then followed it up later with “HA HA HA”. I’m not sure what the hell was wrong with your reading comprehension Bearkeley Boy but that was embarrassing reading comprehension.

Not that I’m defending you know who but you are way off base there saying he wasn’t taunting in any way.
