Lavelle Hawkins

Good news and bad news on former Cal wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins. The good news is he caught a 51-yard touchdown pass during the Tennessee Titans’ preseason win over the Raiders last night. The bad news is he sprained an ankle later in the game. No word yet how long he will be out.
Hawkins added another catch for 19 yards and was the team’s leading receiver for the night. He also returned two punts for 16 yards and two kickoffs for 48 yards.

Justin Forsett had an excellent game for the Seattle Seahawks Saturday, gaining 135 yards and scoring a 10 yard TD run on only 15 carries. He also did very well returning punts and kick-offs. He still has only an outside chance of making the Seattle roster due to an abundance of Seahawk running backs. Continued good performances should earn him a roster spot somewhere though, as Seattle would not be able to “hide” him on their practice squad and any team that claims him would have to add him to their 53 man roster.
So far, Forsett, DeSean Jackson and Lavelle Hawkins have all been rookie stand-outs for their new pro teams. Craig Stevens also caught a pass and blocked well for the Titans. Seeing their ex-team mates do so well should provide some inspiration to players like Calvin, Boateng, Best and Morrah, who certainly have the ability to follow in their footsteps. Go Bears!

If Forsett gets cut from the Seahawks, the Packers or 49ers could use another running back. The Seahawks will probably keep Forsett if he is doing that well.

BigD-
I hope Justin makes the Seahawks roster but they usually only carry a total of 11 receivers/rb’s. He could earn a spot by his return abilities, though. He will end up on some NFL team if he has another good game or two and that’s the most important thing.
