WOW! All I have to say is “In Tedford I trust!” Oh yeah, Go Bears!

  2. Tom Brown Says:

    Whew! Riley starts!

My faith in Coach Tedford’s decision making has been restored. Riley deserves this chance: his play last year, especially the AF Bowl comeback, was breathtaking. (Yes, even the Oregon State performance was strong.)

With the new fast talent, I’m looking for an awesome, fast moving Bears offense, with #13 at the helm.

Boy I’m a bit surprised, in a good way. Riley definitely changes the game for Cal. A mobile QB, excellent!

I would have been happy with either QB and I think Longshore will come off the bench and do some surprising stuff.

    Go Bears!

I dont think it mattered as much as we all made it seem.

One thing we know about JT is that, this year he should be less hesitant to replace a player who isnt performing.

Whoever can play well, I dont care who does.

    I am surprised, and pleased.

  5. This is awesome... Says:

    I finally exhaled.

  6. Calshrink Says:

This is great news, and I agree with the above post that my trust in JT is restored. This is the kind of decision we used to see from JT all the time. If Marshawn fumbled, for example, he was out for a quarter. If Rodgers stunk (OSU his first year) he was out for a while. Last year was an aberration. JT was off his game and stayed with Longshore way too long. He is going with the better, more dynamic player–the player that can make things happen, especially against a good team in the forth quarter.

A bold move! Starting Riley may not result in as many wins this season, but as sophomores Riley and Jahvid Best gain critical starting experience this year with a young offense, 2009 could also be a banner year for the Bears. Of course, if Riley continues his good play from last season, big things may be in store this year as well.

    Go Bears!

  8. Chris Says:

Thanks JO, I heard it here first!

  9. Spartan-in-Columbus Says:

    crap.

  10. MaddenDude Says:

Although I think Longshore would’ve been better this season, Riley wouldn’t have been much worse. In addition, its tremendously better for next two years. I’m 100% fine with Riley though. I have high expectations this season, can’t wait.

  11. Matt S. Says:

    Thanks JO! Go Bears!

  12. moreNCsarecoming Says:

Let’s see how much Riley likes being the starter when he comes face to face with Ray Maluaga. He can always ask Patrick Cowan.

  13. cgb2010 Says:

He can always outrun him =)

    GO BEARS!

  14. 40 year fan Says:

MoreNC’s, I thought you were going to play nice?

  15. Al Says:

Good to see that Riley will get a chance. I think Longshore would perform well but it will be great to see the excitement Riley brings.

  16. Jan K Oski Says:

Now, the surprise of that news has faded, and I’m happy for Riley. Still, I’m not expecting this to be a banner year with so many questions unanswered. And, I hope those who were so hard on Nate and Tedford will show a little more patience with Cal as they have recieved what they begged for. That includes you, clown. Go Bears!

  17. Jan K Oski Says:

    Hey Al, nice website!

  18. Al Says:

You may have to update your banner with a new photo. This would be a good one.

  19. Jan K Oski Says:

Wow! Seawright is the No. 1 Kicker. Click on my name to read it from Tedford on calbears.com. I’m even more surprised by this, since Kay seemed to have improved according to J.O. Still, Tedford did say that Seawright has an explosive leg. Go Bears!

  20. Big D Says:

Maybe Longshore will go on his Morman Mission and come back after Riley graduates. I am surprised Tedford went with Riley so early in the season. I think we are in good hands.

Sigh … ever noticed that you are the only one here calling people names? You’re a walking billboard for why they should enforce an age restriction on this board. If you’re using mommy’s computer and if you’re under 12 years old, then you really shouldn’t be allowed on this site.

Come back when you’re more mature.
