WSU TV coverage

Just got done with our weekly press luncheon: One quick note — Saturday’s game will air on Channel 99 on basic cable in the Bay Area. Comcast Sports Net West is showing the game, which is usually only available on digital packages. CSN West is making the available on basic cable to ensure it reaches Cal’s entire fan base.

Another note about the TV coverage. CSN West will be picking up the Fox Sports Net Northwest production of the game, but will be providing a color analyst in former Cal quarterback Mike Pawlawski. Former WSU quarterback Jason Gesser also will serve as analyst with Kevin Calabro handling the play-by-play.

Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.

Hey JO, your thoughts on Cal not cracking the top 25? Was a bit surprising to me…

  • Bill

Thanks for the update of TV for the WSU game.

  • Steve in Concord

That’s kind of nice of Comcast. The more exposure the better. Will that be the case on the other scheduled CSN West broadcasts or is it just a promo to get subscribers to upgrade their service? I think I can guess the answer.

  • Matt S.

Too bad its not in HD, oh wait, the game is in Pullman…

  • Big D

Ch.99 in Berkeley is listed as “Local Access Programing” and currently has the multi-colored off air vertical bars. Does this mean at 3:30PM on Saturday, the bars will be gone and the game will be on? Just want to double check. I’d call Comcast, but I’d get different answers from different people over there. Anybody?

  • ho

Does anyone know if there is any chance the game will be broadcasted in the los angeles area?

  • ho

nm found it… on FCS Pacific i think

  • Pasadena Dave

Ho – FCS Pacific is on the sports tier for most cable outlets in SoCal.

  • Juice

    How about in Sacramento?

  • Hey, does anybody have trouble accessing the channel 99 in berkeley? I just get a screen that says no signal when i plug the cable directly into the tv rather than into the cable box.

  • Eric Allen

Anyone know what channel that is for AT&T uverse?

  • ttgiang05

If anyone has any more info regarding Ch. 99-Berkeley, please share; color bars here as well!

  • Goldiebear

I don’t live in Berkeley but I think whats happening is that channel 99 is basically a dormant public access channel. That’s why it is available to be used for the game transmission. Right now it isn’t being used. It should go active at game time. Kind of like a channel used strictly for HD transmissions; no signal when there is no progamming.

  • Shouldn’t matter after all, we have the sports package that includes FCS pacific.

  • Jonathan Okanes

Tony, I’m not that surprised. Cal was at home and Michigan State is considered a middle-of-the-pack Big Ten team. I believe Cal was favored by close to a touchdown. Of course, it also depends on who loses in front of them. I actually think the Bears are about where they should be right now.

  • Paul

For anyone with DirectTV. I don’t have the ‘sports package’, just basic, so I don’t have 698 (ComcastSports), but I might have FSNHD (678)? Does that make sense?

If so, do I get the game?

  • rolaidz

Anyone know of a bar or any other place in LA that is showing the game? I wish there was a Cal friendly sports bar or something like that in So Cal.

  • KH

I am a huge Cal fan and I also live in Southern California (Irvine)…I try to find anyway possible to see the Cal games on TV…I am pretty sure it will be on Fox College Sports Pacific for Cox cable users…I have also just recently, sent a sling box to family I have in the east bay, so if a game is not televised in SoCal I can watch it on my computer via the sling box and their NorCal TV programming!…hope that helps…

  • Pete

I subscribed the DirecTV sports package this morning so I can watch the game. Will unsubscribe after the game.
