The day before

It’s travel day, but before I head off for the great state of Washington, some reading:
–Here’s our story on the appeals’ court ruling yesterday. It was kind of a subdued celebration at Memorial Stadium last night, probably because this case has dragged on so long, nobody will believe it until they see it. Maybe athletic department folks will start celebrating when the trees start coming down, which, according to athletic director Sandy Barbour, could happen next week.
–Today, we looked at former Cal quarterback Kyle Reed and the splash he is making at San Jose State. Funny that Reed and Riley were competing for Cal’s No. 2 job last year and now both are starting quarterbacks.
–It looks like Washington St. will play the first half of tomorrow’s game without one of its top defensive tackles.
–The Cougars’ offensive line is in a state of flux.

Chainsaws are on! I drove by the stadium and I heard the sweet sound of CHAINSAWS!

Its good to start the chainsaw now, since there are no games for the next two weeks. Hope by the end of Sept. all trees are gone, and the ground is trumbling with digging sound.

It appears that they will have cut all the trees down by today (Sat) or Sunday. Most trees are already gone when I went by there at noon today!
