As you all know, the trees around Memorial Stadium started coming down while the Bears were doing their thing up in Pullman. Here’s the latest, as of this morning.
Cal will make the tough cross-country trip to Maryland this week. I’m not sure how tough the competition will be, however. I don’t expect the Terps to be quite as bad as Washington State, but they certainly are having their struggles.
So far, Maryland has a seven-point home win over Delaware and a 24-14 road loss at Middle Tennessee State. Considering this uninspired play comes against teams from non-BCS conferences, the 23rd-ranked Bears, coming off a 66-point outburst, should feel pretty good about themselves.
Maryland has been a pretty good program this decade. They’ve had a couple of double-digit win seasons and have been to bowl games in four of the past six years. But times are evidently lean right now.
Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen is mulling over making some changes for Saturday’s game.
You heard the beginnings of Heisman talk about Jahvid Best over the weekend. For the record, right now he ranks seventh nationally in rushing (155.5 ypg) and sixth in all-purpose yards (239.5 ypg).
