Riley ran for a fairly long TD against WSU. I don't recall the yardage but I'd guess more than 20 yds. Although he did run for at least 1 short TD against AF, I don't think he had any run longer than 10 yds.

I would definitely be in favor or more roll outs and movement with Riley. It actually seems that we run more QB motion with Longshore.

JO
Have you seen any new wrinkles in the offense since the poor start by our passing game?
My one beef with Tedford is it seems he doesn’t change his offense very much to fit what he has on the field. That's not Nate Longshore out there so how about we start rolling Riley out more and creating some mismatches.

Jan k Oski I agree: "I do “hope” that Riley gets at least one more chance to start, if he is flat on 3 series, then an injection of new blood wouldn’t hurt the march to victory. I’m not in favor of keeping in Longshore unless he catches fire."

Longshore has kind of dug his own grave as far as I am concerned... be nice to him because he is a senior and has spend a long time at Cal... but also remember he is not your future... with that said remember we are 3-1 with the USC loss the pac10 is only starting to get interesting.

Cal85 I agree: "I think Riley is pressing and over-thinking. He seems to over-read and then hurry his mechanics."

Has Riley broken a run for 20 yards yet, like he did last year against OSU and in the bowl game. One of the things that sets him apart from Longshore is how versital he is. I want to know why he has not scrambled a little more. Maybe it's because he is scared that Tedford is looking for the first opportunity to put Longshore back in... I am of the opinion that Tedford likes Longshore too much and that's why last year he did not switch QB's when he should of... with that said I would like to see Riley scramble a little more when his WR's dont get open down feild... which let's face it we have already seen they have trouble with it. Plus if Riley is scrambles a little we might find that the passing game opens a little bit... because then Riley is a run threat.

Disclaimer: I do not think Riley should run/scramble a lot, nor do I think he has the speed of a cougar/panther. However I do think he is quick enough and illusive enough remind defences to keep their eye out.

Personally, I think Riley is pressing and over-thinking. He seems to over-read and then hurry his mechanics. Maybe he fears throwing picks a little too much and get boo'ed out of town like Longshore & Ayoob. I think he did best when he trusted his reads and when with his throws.

If nothing else, I think the uncertainty could give ASU a harder time creating a game plan.

Quality tidbits to feed the masses, JO! I do "hope" that Riley gets at least one more chance to start, if he is flat on 3 series, then an injection of new blood wouldn't hurt the march to victory. I'm not in favor of keeping in Longshore unless he catches fire. A rotation throughout the entire game wouldn't get a complaint from me. If it lights a fire in Riley, then problem solved. I just wonder how other fans will respond to it.

Thanks for the updates JO. When I want the latest news quick, this blog is now my first stop before the fan sites -- and your color like Jordan's take on playing against the Cal RBs is a nice bonus.

Is there a mobile friendly feed so I can get your pre-game notes from my seat @ Memorial?
