Not just Jordan…

By Jonathan Okanes

As I had speculated, Cal DE Cameron Jordan has been named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week. But punter Bryan Anger also took home the weekly honor for special teams. Here’s the news release from the Pac-10 website.

Jordan had a huge game, but the Pac10 should have given the the entire cal defense this weeks award. Everyone on the roster had a highlight play on saturday.

Thompson batting away pass after pass, Felders hit in the backfield, Williams hit on the WR, hagens multiple solo tackles, Mohammed’s swat causing the fumble… I could keep going, but Follet’s hitting Carpenter into next month should have made more ESPN highlights.

    Not be overlooked…

With the Saints trailing 20-10 late in the third quarter, Bush had his first touchdown return for 71 yards, slipping a tackle early and accelerating past a bone-jarring block at midfield by Jo-Lonn Dunbar.

Bush nearly broke another punt return, but tripped and fell at the Minnesota 49.

The Vikings kicked to Bush again and paid for it. Bush caught the kick on the run and burst between the only defenders who really had a shot at him before cutting outside into the open field for a 64-yard score.

“Great blocking by my teammates,” Bush said. “It was obviously a huge play at a time of need. It would have been even sweeter if we had won this game.”

Bush was 12th player in NFL history to return two punts for TDs in a game. The last do it was Eddie Drummond of Detroit against Jacksonville on Nov. 14, 2004.

Can you ask Tedford tomorrow about Slocum? Why didn’t he get any carries? Shouldn’t we get some depth and experience at that position?

    Vereen looked tired.

  4. Lawrence Ross Says:

    Also not to be overlooked…

O.J. Simpson was convicted and faces life in jail.

What a loser this guy is. Nothing better to do then spam a Cal board…

  6. Robert Says:

J.O. any news on the plan for practices this bye week? Last time it seemed there was a lot of hitting.

  7. Jan K Oski Says:

Jon, Good question, but it’s a bye week. I don’t think there’s any media luncheon on bye weeks. Go Bears!

  8. MoreNCsarecoming Says:

I really have no axe to grind but even one of YOUR very own doesn’t think much of your fans. This is worth reading.

  9. Jonathan Okanes Says:

Jon, Tedford was asked about it after the game and simply said he thought that was the right amount of carries for Vereen.
Robert, the Bears will practice their usual Tue-Thurs schedule for the bye week. We’ll find out tonight how much hitting is going to go on. My guess is it won’t be like last bye week. It will probably be a little lighter.

what are the chances we see riley against UA? 1 in 4?

  11. Gerson_Bakar Says:

Hi MoreNCs! Glad to see that you haven’t lost your passion for football! Go Saints!

So are you now a Saints fan because Joe McKnight (and many other recruits) have turned out to be as big a bust in college as matt leinart is in the NFL? And Just like Pete Carrol, Leinart is proving to be a choke artist without Norm Chow.

Now you better pick up that trojan banner that you so easily threw on the ground. I mean, how will you look Rey Rey in the eye when you have dinner tomorrow? Chin Up! Fight On!

Morons claims in post #8 that he/she has “no axe to grind.” Oh, really? That axe could have been used to cut down the entire oak grove outside Memorial Stadium. By the way, another player had a long punt return for a TD on Sunday. One hint: he used to play for Cal last season.

  13. Big D Says:

I too, am puzzled on the Slocum no show. What gives?

Last time I checked, Stanfurd has bragging rights against USC as well. HAHAHAHAHA… nothing is greater than a 40 point dog taking down a top ranked team.

    Hi MoreNCs!

touting the cardinal victories as well? well at least you’re back to college football!

the cardinal really are a better team for you since you must have watched the biggest choke job in the history of college football when the Norm Chow-less trojans choked as a 41-point favorite…at home. :)

Fight On!…oops, i mean go cardinal?
