Bye week mid-week

There were so many players wearing red jerseys at Wednesday’s practice, it almost looked like a Stanford practice. But fear not, there always is a sea of red during bye weeks as players get time off from practice to rest or heal up their bumps and bruises.
A red jersey means a practice non-participant, and there were a lot of those Wednesday night as many of the young players in the program wore pads and hit hard during live crossover drills. Coach Jeff Tedford said none of the players wearing red had anything significant and should return to full capacity when the team returns from its bye weekend on Sunday night.
Tedford did say something Wednesday that was somewhat notable, in a clarifying way. Immediately after Saturday’s game, he was asked if Nate Longshore would remain the starter for the next game. His answer? “Probably.” But he immediately followed that up by saying he didn’t know for sure and the evaluation is continual, which has been his watchword all season.
I interpreted that to mean Longshore would get first team reps but could be surpassed if Kevin Riley outplayed him in practice. But Tedford said Wednesday that the quarterbacks will continue to split the first team reps during practice next week.
“That’s how we evaluate,” Tedford said.
I also asked Tedford about the status of offensive tackle Mike Tepper, who has been out all season after pectoral muscle surgery. Tepper mentioned a few weeks ago that the second bye week would be the earliest he could return. But Tedford said today that Tepper was still aways off from getting back in the mix.
The Bears practice tomorrow then have Friday and Saturday off before returning Sunday night to start preparing for Arizona.

too bad, even though our o-line has played well Tepper would have added something to the mix. Feel bad for Mike especially this being his senior year and all he’s been thru.

Don’t feel too bad B-Kid,
If Tepper is out for the year he would be a shoe in for a 6th year. That would really help the departure of Malele and Mack.
If He comes back this year he will add to the stretch run.
See a win win

thanks MIKE.
didn’t TEPPER already recieve a med. redshirt when he hurt his leg? are players allowed to do this twice?

Kid, I diagree with Michael. I don’t think Tepper received a blue shirt after the car ran over his leg (Bear fans use blue shirt for the obvious reason of a traditional rivalry). As well, his profile doesn’t mention any medical blue shirt on the official site, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t receive one. However, he did blue-shirt in ‘04. Based upon the Kay experience, it appears that gaining a medical blue-shirt is a complete uncertainity. Too bad, because he seems like a great teammate, and his dad is a frequent contributor to BearInsider. I suppose we can hope for the Best, but there are certainly a lot of underclassmen who will be ready to take his place.

Tedford to Washington - What’s up with these rumors? Personally I think Harbuagh would be better. He could bring his monster recruiting class up there and win almost from the get go.

D-Jack has really surprised me with his play in the NFL I knew he had speed but I figures his size would hurt him. Every game I have seen him play he has looked great. He really proved me wrong.

Carol to Washington. Fired over sleezy recruiting (see R. Bush). SC hires Tom Holmoe!

Rumors about Tedford were completely were never cited and most likely made up… it would be about the most illogical decision ever, considering contract bonuses, Athletic Center, family ties, etc etc
I see Lane Kiffin in Washington’s near future
