Not surprisingly, Cal linebacker Zack Follett has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for defense. You knew somebody from the Bears’ defense had a good chance to take home this honor this week after the performance against Oregon, and Follett led the charge. He is the second straight Cal defender to win conference Player of the Week honors. Mike Mohamed won it last week after his performance against UCLA.

J.O. do you think Cheadle and/or Edwards played well enough to become starters once everyone is healthy? Any idea what game Davis may be back for?

Jonathan,
Do you have any idea as to what had JT so riled-up over on the sidelines with one of the officials? There was a period of several minutes during the game where the TV coverage showed JT “jawing” with one of the officials. My guess is that he was complaining rather vehemently about Oregon O-Lineman HOLDING the Bear defenders at the line of scrimmage. – - – Can you ask JT about this at your Tuesday press conference?
Thanks!

Robert, I doubt Cheadle or Edwards will replace either guy on a full-time basis once they are healthy. But I’d say Edwards would have a better chance at sticking than Cheadle. That’s not because of Cheadle’s performance, but rather because of Malele’s experience and the fact that he’s playing pretty well this season.
