I have it on good sources that both Carroll and Kennard are USC’s. Kennard will step in for Cush. Hall will also be crazy not to sign with SC since Taylor will be heading to the NFL which will open up the position for Hall. Throw in Manti Teo and our recruiting is done and we have another monster class.

GO Bears, and Go Beavers – I’d like to see another Pac-10 team play in the Rose Bowl for once, and those rodents have earned it, especially if they can knock off Oregon in the CW.
Plus, Beaver fans are much classier than Duck fans, they deserve a Rose Bowl shot, and it looks like the Emerald Bowl (no cool road trip) if they lose. We may actually surprise the Big-12, we have a month to learn how to catch…

Haas – I wouldn’t say Mizzou’s offense is overrated. Their offense is very similar to Arizona, who beat up on us last month. When they were 5-0 they had not had a three-and-out yet in the season.

All I want for Christmas is for Carroll, Kennard, Lokombo, Coleman and Lokombo to commit to Cal. That’s all I want in addition to a new car.

Nothing scientific about this, but my hunch is that the Big 12 will likely be sending Missouri or Oklahoma St. to the Holiday Bowl. I think Texas Tech would be a long shot since they will likely handle Baylor in their final game and go 11-1 on the season. I think this would make them a candidate for a stronger bowl and rumor has it the Cotton Bowl would be more likely to take them in that scenario.

Oklahoma will likely handle Oklahoma St. in their final game, thereby handing the cowboys another loss in the process (bringing them to 9-3 on the season). If Missouri wins over Kansas in their final game, they will be 10-2 on the season. If they lose to Kansas they will be 9-3 on the season.

In either Missouri scenario they win the Big 12-North and there should be a Big 12-South three-way tie for 1st between Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. I’m not sure how that will be worked out since Texas lost to Texas Tech, Oklahoma lost to Texas, and Texas Tech lost to Oklahoma. I’m going to guess that Oklahoma has greater “strength of schedule” than either Texas or Texas Tech and gets the conference title.

And then that plays into the Big 12 Championship game. It should be Missouri vs. Oklahoma. Assuming Oklahoma wins, Missouri picks up another loss and the final Big 12 breakdown might look something like this:

1. Oklahoma – BCS
2. Texas – BCS
2. Texas Tech – Cotton
3. Missouri – (Big 12 3rd = Holiday Bowl)
4. Oklahoma St. – (Holiday Bowl? Alamo Bowl?)

Randall Carroll is the kind of player that USC recruits and signs. Notice the attitude.

“It’s definitely appealing to think about playing right and playing in front of my family,” said Carroll about playing for USC. “But Cal would be a real nice place to go and they have a nice campus and academics and all. Cal gave me a lot to think about. As I have said before what makes Pete Carroll special is that he can take 85 players with the same attitude and mold them into a team.

Haas- On 11/24, Tim Griffin, who follows the Big12 for ESPN, posted the following blog entry, “Big 12 bowl projections: Sooners could soar to BCS title game”, and started the article with “The Big 12′s bowl alignment isn’t any clearer after only two games last week.” Basically, if Cal does go to the Holiday Bowl, they could play one of 5 teams, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas or Texas Tech.

Basically, no one knows until the end of the regular season which culminates with the Big12 Championship. Even then, the writing will not be on the wall. Personally, I’d like to see our Bears against any of those teams, as a month of practice will be enough to heal some bodies and put the offense in gear like it was against MSU (K. Riley, QB 17-24, 202 yds
2 TDs). That’s my 2 cents.
