Cal had four players named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team today — center Alex Mack, left guard Mark Boskovich, fullback Zach Smith and linebacker Mike Mohamed. The Bears tied Oregon State for most players on the first team. Left tackle Mitchell Schwartz and fullback Will Ta’ufo’ou earned honorable mention.
It was the second straight first team selection for Mack.

Can anyone tell me if they’ve ever heard of a major called Communication? Is that like Grammar for Starters?

What’s great about this is that UC Berkeley is known for being one of very few schools in the United States that has not suffered from massive amounts of grade inflation. A 3.0 at Cal is like a 4.0 in most other schools, and that’s not even taking in account the greater difficulty of the classes at UCB.

Jan, Communications is a very popular major at every College and University. If someone wants to go into sports broadcasting for example, they would major in Communications.

Communication is more like media/news/PR/marketing. There’s no journalism undergraduate major at Cal (I don’t believe), but that and the marketing side of business would be most akin.
