As expected, Miami was selected as Cal’s opponent for the Emerald Bowl today. The Hurricanes are 7-5 and went 4-4 in the ACC Coastal Division. I’ll have much more on this matchup to come.

Obviously, aside from a January trip to Pasadena, I couldn’t be happier with Cal’s bowl situation: the Golden Bears battling the Miami Hurricanes in one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world with no plane ticket or hotel reservation required. Go Bears!!

I’m glad we are playing a team from Florida, home of lots of great high school players. Playing teams from Texas in recent Bowl Games (Texas Tech, Texas A&M) and in Texas at the Armed Forces Bowl may have helped Cal land some very good players from that state. Maybe the exposure by playing Miami will help recruiting efforts in Florida as well. Go Bears!!

it should be a good game. i still believe that the 2001 Miami team was one of the best college fb teams ive ever seen, obviously the u does not have athletes like that this year, but theyre still solid, GO BEARS
