This one certainly doesn’t come as a surprise, but Jahvid Best has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for offense. It’s the third time this season Best has received the award.

The All-Pac-10 team is expected to be released later today. Best certainly has a chance to be named the Offensive Player of the Year. Other potential first-teamers are Alex Mack, Zack Follett and Syd’Quan Thompson. I would throw Tyson Alualu in there but there are some other pretty good defensive linemen in this conference.

While Best had an amazing day breaking a 54-year old Cal record, I was pretty astonished when I saw the number’s for Jerry Drew’s old record: 284 yards on only ELEVEN carries. Best’s 16 yard per is mind-boggling enough, add another first down per carry to that total for Drew!

I was wondering if you have any more information on Drew’s day – seems like that might be an interesting story.

    Thanks!
