Football: One week to go

One week until the Emerald Bowl…
Cal practiced this morning and it seemed to be an energetic, focused two-hour session. Several recruits were on hand, including giant offensive lineman Charles Ragland from Colorado. Ragland was wearing a tank top and shorts in the frigid weather, but somehow he really didn’t appear to be too cold.
Speaking of recruiting, Cal reportedly has picked up another top prospect, offensive lineman Charles Siddoway of Eugene, Oregon. Both scout.com and rivals.com are reporting he has given the Bears an oral commitment. Siddoway is the No. 19 offensive tackle in the country, according to scout.com. He passed on schools such as hometown Oregon and Alabama to come to Berkeley. Apparently, the departure of offensive line coach Jim Michalczik didn’t bother Siddoway too much.
Back at practice, Nate Longshore and Kevin Riley split first team reps. The team won’t practice again until Tuesday, and coach Jeff Tedford said that’s when he’ll likely make his decision.
The Bears will check into the San Francisco Marriott late in the afternoon on Monday, shortly after Miami arrives at the Hyatt Regency. Cal will bus back to Memorial Stadium for practices Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
In other news, Miami coach Randy Shannon has suspended three more players for the Emerald Bowl, but none of them figured to make a significant impact. Junior tight ends Richard Gordon and Tervaris Johnson and freshman linebacker Jordan Futch will each miss the game for violating a team rule. Gordon has three catches this season, Johnson plays on special teams and Futch was going to miss the game anyway because of a concussion.
Meanwhile, Tedford announced his own suspension today — backup running back and special teams player Tracy Slocum has been suspended for the game for violating team rules. Tedford wouldn’t expand on Slocum’s transgression.

Congratulations to Grant High School in Del Paso Heights – the home of Christian Tupou star defensive lineman for USC. I heard some of our staff at the game spoke to the running back Booker. He would look great in crimson and gold.

“Our” staff.
Bwahahahahahahhaahahhaha. Morencs is such a physical and emotional wreck that he had to leave law school for “medical reasons” 3 years ago and still hasn’t gone back. He sits alone in his room in his daddy’s house because he has no job and spends his day on his computer pretending he is part of SC.
And yet, the SC boards banned his screen name. He is not part of SC. SC fans have made it clear that they have punked him and refused to accept him as one of their own.

Another JUCO Commit! Former Cal O-lineman and Strength and Conditioning coach for College of the Canyons Robert Dos Remedios has made two phone calls to Cal in his tenor. The first was to Coach Tedford about JJ Arrington. Now, he made a second phone call about 6’0″, 245lb FB Sean Quinn. This kid is obviously very special, because coaches rarely offer schollies to FBs without seeing them in live action.
Thank you, Coach Dos Remedios for your commitment to bring talent to Memorial Stadium!

It is coming down to the final days in recruiting and Cal needs our help to make an impact on Devon kennard….
I am asking all Cal Bear fans to Make a sign to bring to the ESPN Pre-Game tailgate, or in the stands to be seen by cameras…
Here are some ideas and please be creative.. We all know Devon is a program changing player and the bears need him and need our help to show how welcome he would be.
Ideas:
1. DK IS A BEAR!
2. In Devon Kennard WE TRUST!
3. Devon Kennard = Cal Championship
Like I said… bring it to the tailgate… bring in to the stadium… and lets help him make his mind up..
Pass this idea along to as many bear fans as you know… We need to help!
Go Bears!!!

yes! I heard he is a great blocker. Cal is building up around Best for his success next year. It will be no surprice if he runs 3000 yds next year, and will be at top on the heisman.
Go Bears!

The Commitments continue to roll in! Dual threat (5’7″, 160lb, 4.3) RB Isi Sofele is a Bear!

He doesn’t have a rivals or scout.com profile at this time. But, ESPN has him on their radar. Check out his tremendous skills on their video:

He’ll surely be nice compliment to Yarnway.
Go BEARS!

This is a good signing since Jahvid Best has benifitted from excellent blocking by Will T. the past two years and this should help the running game in the future. Also,Best was named to the “All Mayday” team by ESPN’s Mark May for his performance this year while playing with a dislocated elbow among other injuries.
