Football: The Bears indeed will rest

Cal has moved its game at Washington from Oct. 10 to Dec. 5 next season. That now gives the Bears at least one bye, and it comes near the halfway point of the season. Coincidentally, the Bears and Huskies did pretty much the same thing last year, moving the game from Oct. 11 to Dec. 6. This means the Bears will not end the season with the Big Game for the second year in a row.

UPDATE: The Bears actually have two bye weeks. They also will be off between the Big Game and the Washington game, just like this past season.
