Defensive end Devon Kennard (Phoenix) reportedly received a home visit from Jeff Tedford last night. According to the Arizona Republic, Kennard will host two of USC’s defensive coaches tonight and then Texas coach Mack Brown on Thursday. Kennard, considered one of the nation’s top prospects, has narrowed his search to Cal, USC and Texas.
The Republic’s update also notes that Kennard won’t announce his decision until Signing Day on Feb. 4. That’s a deviation from what Kennard has said in the past. But with him still hosting visits and only two weeks left before Signing Day, it makes sense that he would need a little more time to digest all the information.
I’ve placed a handful of calls to Kennard but haven’t heard back. If I can get him to say where Cal stands in the process, of course I will pass it along immediately.
Also, Randall Carroll, one of the nation’s top wide receiver recruits who has a soft commitment to USC, reportedly visited Arizona State over the weekend. Carroll is believed to still be strongly considering Cal.

JO- Awesome that you are tracking this. Kennard and Carroll have the chance to put Cal’s class into top 10 territory. So those of us that follow this are checking several times daily. Also, while you are monitoring this, a couple of other thoughts
* TE- does Cal now go out and push hard to replace Cameron Morrah? Kenny Cooper is still available but Cal has never offered him, so maybe they are crazy about him. Also, Zach Ertz has been frequently asked and quoted, always professes he is going to Stanford, but his stance always seems less thatn 100%.
*Other key recruits- other top recruits that are still uncommitted and considering Cal– WR’s Adam Hall and Devon Flournoy are 4-star recruits with Cal high on their list. Either of these would be nice, both if Carroll choose elsewhere.
* Manti Teo- he still shows as a Cal recruit, but I don’t believe he has ever even visited Cal- supposedly he is deciding between SC, ND and BYU, with Stanford as an outside shot. If Stanford, why not Cal. Is there even a prayer Cal can sneak in and pull a coup? This guy is one of the top 3-5 players at any position in the country.

PS- Morrah going pro? I wish him well, but he does not seem ready, Not strong enough yet, not even an adequate blocker by NFL standards. Also, many dropped passes this year – at least 6-8 easily catchable, in addition to several others that were tough but catchable. I was shocked that he did this. Unless he just dominates at the combine, he will be a late round pick, if it all. Again, best of luck- I hope he didn’t make a big mistake.

Mack Brown of Texas has already made an in-home visit to Kennard, meaning he cannot visit again. If there is going to be another in-home from a Texas rep, it will be someone other than Brown.

Kennard is a USC lock. I will know about the visit probably tomorrow and will let you know as soon as my I get word from my source. I know the USC coaches landed about 1 PM today in Phoenix airport.

I just don’t, for the life of me, get why in the world you post on Cal sites. Nobody, and I mean, nobody cares what you say. The negativity and lack of class defines you. What a shame.

Devon Kennard update…
My sources tell me he is ours to lose. The meeting went well although one of our coaches wasn’t feeling that great and almost pulled out at the last minute. When I asked what the order of schools was I got no answer except USC is the top one on the list. Our coaches never bad mouth another program in the recruiting process so I doubt the question even came up. He was asked about his physical rehab and it is coming along well. He likes the school, the players he met, the tradition of excellence, the chance to compete on the national stage and LA. That’s all I have. If anyone else has something let’s hear it.

Moronncs Law School Update:
My sources tell me he had a mental break down in Constitutional Law class over his workload that he couldn’t do as well as the other students and the school decided to lose him. The meeting with his daddy and his mommy did not go well — they didn’t like the prospect that they were going to end up supporting the little freak forever.
When asked about mental rehab, Morons’ mommy said “All the meds in the world won’t cure this little freak. I’m pretty sure they switched babies at the hospital cuz no way this freak is mine.”
No word yet on Moron’s big drama queen pledge to leave the blog when people kept discussing how Pouty Petey threw a hissy fit on national tv. Most just assume he’s a liar. After all, he keeps saying his screen name morencs can post on scout boards, but he never can provide a link.
That’s all we have,except to remember the freak is so lonely he spent xmas alone and ended up making a dozen posts on this blog.
