Cal football: Carroll no longer in picture?

By Jonathan Okanes

ESPN.com is reporting that wide receiver Randall Carroll’s primary targets now are USC, UCLA and Arizona State. It looks as though the Bears may have lost their second big recruit this week with defensive end Devon Kennard announcing his commitment to USC. Cal has to keep its fingers crossed that wide receiver/defensive back Adam Hall will choose to come to Berkeley or it could really shape up to be a disappointing week for the Bears.

    Damn.

    Go Bears!

Sounds like Cal isn’t really going after him as hard as SC or ASU. I wonder why? Maybe his grades aren’t up to par, which is a non-factor at SC. This kid just wants a school to show him the love. C’mon Tedford, know your ABC’s: Always Be Closing!

No, grades are not the issue.

The staff is going after Adam Hall much harder.
Right now, Carroll is very raw as a receiver and may be best suited for corner (and therefore USC–which is recruiting him at that position)

Right now, the Bears are focusing on Adam Hall (WR/S/OLB) and Jonathan Stewart (ILB).

This class is already outstanding… with maybe the nation’s best OL class

Also, be on the look out for probable 5-star WR Robert Woods and top 5 QB Austin Hinder for the 2010 class, which is much deeper in terms of offensive talent in CA.

Both love Cal and could commit early… leading into what insiders at Rivals and Scout think could be our best class ever

As good as the OL class is already, word is Cal isn’t done recruiting Michael Phillip.

Indeed, it’s disappointing Kennard chose SC, but losing out on Carroll isn’t the end of the world. Next year’s class of receivers from California is much better anyway. And, Carroll is by no means close to the talent Desean was coming out of LBP.

Very good, intelligent posts here. Refreshing.
