Cal football: Mack sprains ankle

Alex Mack told NFL.com that he sprained his ankle on Monday and won’t be able to work out for teams at the NFL combine. Mack is in Indianapolis for the event and can still go through some of the non-athletic activities, but will have to wait until Cal’s pro day on March 18 to demonstrate his physical skills for teams.
This probably isn’t such a bad thing for Mack. After a terrific Senior Bowl, he seems to be firmly entrenched as a late first round or early second round pick. It’s hard to imagine his stock could go much higher.

CAL Sports Report did a segment on Mack during the season. He is the most limber football player I have ever seen. Someone on another board thinks his agent has told him to sit out the combine, and they came up with the sprained ankle idea. The NFL got to see him at the Senior Bowl. I think he has been told he will be a late first round pick, possibly Pittsburgh.
