I agree about the blitz Davidson. I think being in year 2 of the 3-4 will result in more creativity. Which will result in the D being even better this year.

Yup, what impressed me most at the spring game was the defense.

The 1st team D just looked amazing, all huge and fast. The front line was getting pressure with just 3. The linebackers looked good (don't remember #18 being THAT big). #11 looked good, and hagan wasn't even out there.

What I liked was the safety blitz, bringing in #11 to sack Mansion early.

Let it be known that Patty Cakes, who claims to be wealthy because he's on a trip to the Middle East, is actively posting on the SF Gate website. Looks like someone has been fabricating stories!

Yup, the D is monster and it appears LB depth is very good even with limited experience. The o-line is still gelling and will set up better with Best. Offense with Best is a whole other animal. Cal needs a B to B+ performance from the passing game and things could blow up in a good way. Go Bears!

It is so nice to see the words "dominant defense" and "Bears" being used together! Stopping the run and consistently putting pressure on the QB....Wow! I wouldn't look at this as an offensive weakness but rather that the Bears have turned to being an excellent team on D. The O-Line was fortunate to have their whole group together for the entire spring. That's a rarity nowadays. They will continue to solidify in the summer and fall and a certain RB will join them. They will be fine. Good luck to opposing qb's this coming year. Keep your head on a swivel!

Am I the only one who's concerned that 2 yards (and some change) per carry says more about us missing Mack & Will T than it does about our D? Granted the D is solid and I like our front 7. But that rushing total with a back like Vereen feels a bit like Forsett's first full time year: four runs straight into the Beaver line from inside the 5 and no points. I'm still hurting over that one...
