Cal football: Recruiting momentum

The Bears are off to a pretty good start for their 2010 recruiting class. This is not a huge surprise because it seemed all along he was headed to Cal, but Monte Vista-Danville linebacker Dave Wilkerson committed to the Bears at Junior Day over the weekend. Wilkerson had already said publicly he planned on going to Cal but made his commitment official. This is another major get for the Bears, who are stockpiling their defense. All five of their oral commitments so far for 2010 are on the defensive side of the ball. Two of them — Wilkerson and Cecil Whiteside – ranked among the top-10 nationally at their position by scout.com. Last weekend’s commit of Cassius Marsh gave Cal one of the top defensive tackles in the country.
The Bears also received an oral commitment last week from Tyler York, a linebacker from Reno. I tried to link the story from the Reno Gazette-Journal for a few days but it appeared there are problems with the paper’s web site. Here it finally is.

Hey J.O. how do the summer workouts go? I saw that Riley said he would be working out with the receivers. Is there contact with coaches like Ludwig?
