jbart2 jbart

Cal senior-to-be Jamal Boykin will host an art show to display 44 drawings he has done of President Barack Obama on Saturday, May 9, at the Alphonse Berber Gallery at 2546 Bancroft Ave., in Berkekey. The showing will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

(Note: We originally were given the wrong address for the gallery. The address above is correct).

The Barack Obama Collection also includes photography work done by Nican Robinson, who played on the Cal team the past two seasons.

At 7 p.m. on May 9, Boykin will talk about his drawings, and teammate Patrick Christopher will deliver a poetry reading.

Donations will be encouraged to raise money for art supplies for students at Malcolm X Elementary School in Berkeley. Refreshments will be served.

  • This story is an example of what makes me proud to be a Cal alum! While some guys are thinking about nothing but playing a game, these three are showing they are more than just jocks. And Jamal’s work is terrific! Here’s to him getting some national pub for this… and the three of them for helping out the kids.

I can only bellow a hearty and heartfelt, GO BEARS!!!

This is the kind of thing that makes me proud to be a Cal parent. It is awesome to see this level of creativity and ofcourse care for other that these fine student athletes have shown. I commend them for this and hopefull that many more will emulate them.
