College recruiting is almost as interesting as the actual season. Big names, national ranking at their position, youthful energy, positive statements about their choice etc, etc. Future success of the program

WARNING - these are high school kids(I say kids) and they are having fun travelling around to big universities and want to impress their teammates and fellow students. They enjoy the interviews, the attention. They stress how the educational opportunities are paramount in their decision.

When their high school season plays out, certain players will stand out and they will be rushed big time by the big time, cash cows. Since they are not really 'committed' until LOI they are susceptible to second-thoughts and the 'grass is greener over there' temptation.

It's extremely important that Cal have only a 1-2 loss season and a significant bowl invitation or else - some of these hot prospects, by Lupoi, may defect. Also, maybe Lupoi might get discouraged.

Stanford just got a commitment from 4-star safety out of AZ. They have 21 commits with very diverse geographic reach.

Overall, PAC-10 will have a solid recruiting year. I expect Cal, UW, U$C, and pucla to sign a very good class in addition to Stanford. Quack Attack will get a decent class. Not sure if little OSU, ASU and U of Eh's classes will be worth jack. Wazzu - forget about it

Example, Tennessee vols, Kiffin snagged a bunch
of well known recruiters from other SEC!!! programs
simply because he was able to come up with the green.

Of course it has nothing to do with the success of the program. We will get the bigtime assistants when our program begins to play better than a Las Vegas or Emerald bowl venue.

>>> Jan K Oski,

I agree that Gregory leaving would be bad, but then
that is the obvious (hence didn't feel like pointing
that out). On the contrary most fans often neglect
that college football is about recruiting as anything
and when a program does well and when u have a name
popping up everywhere and garners national attention
in the recruiting trail, like Lupoi, that person
becomes a target by other programs just as much as
coordinators. I am very confident that Lupoi will be
around for at least a couple of more years, but if
he continues to do so well in the recruiting trail,
and i don't see why not, then he may be taken by
another program to do the exact same thing for more
money. Example, Tennessee vols, Kiffin snagged a bunch
of well known recruiters from other SEC!!! programs

A) I am not even on the Scout board. Nice try. Just like I'm not Pete Carroll (even though we both call you patty cakes), GoldenBear or any of the others. Just because you have multiple personalities doesn't mean everyone else has to.

B) You think one misstatement will make me go away? Everyone makes mistakes, I take solace in the fact that mine was an incorrect statement on a website rather than mistakes that led me to live with parents dad until I was 35. OWNED!

C)Anyway, you're always making fun of social welfare majors, how about you check out the welfare link that I posted because it seems like you need it, buddy.

morons, err, I mean Covinared, are you going to continue your pathetic lie that you don't use multiple SN's?

>>>Covinared Says: June 23rd, 2009 at 10:03 pm
Will: Cal was on the quarter system when I was there 78-82. you need some other means to show me to be a fraud and should know more of your school’s history. >>>

Must be tough to keep all the multiple personalities straight when your pathologies are about to go critical, you pathetic sub mental troll.

Milo, couldn't agree more about the value of the SAPHC to recruiting.

Go Bears!

Abe, that's crazy talk. Lupoi bleeds Blue and Gold. He'll be a Cal coach for a few more years. I'm more worried about Gregory leaving, if the defense continues to be a big part of Cal's success. Lupoi would then be in line to take Gregory's position.

Golden bears, just pray that Lupoi won't be snagged away by some money cow because he is really at the heart of all this success in recruiting.

Quarter system Will. Thought that would help. And nice try attempting to get me banned from the scout board. You failed again Will.
