I feel much better this year than last year on the running back position. This year Cal add some depth there with Sofele, Deboski, and Yarnway. Although they are young, but, they have speed, talent, and strength. So. even if Best can’t carry through the whole year, which I believe he will, other will step up.

The trouble with having an outstanding player like Best is it makes me wonder if his health is the whole season. One good hit and Cal drops at least one notch down – maybe more. Shane is good but Best is an obvious target for defenses and he seems fragile. $C just floods the field with depth.

Tedford has had a reputation for letting his players beat on each other in practice, so seeing his top gamers held out longer only makes sense.

Closed practice hopefully means more trick plays and formations. We had become borderline predictable on offense. Nowhere near as bad as the Roger Theder days when the student section was calling out “Short side sweep”.

Will and moreN… I disagree with you guys.
If I am JT I would do the same thing. It is still three weeks before kickoff. I will just prepare Best mentally. Why taking the risk of injuring Best during practice. Remember last year, Best got hurt and didn’t practice much, but, still came out strong and on top.

Learn from the NFL guys, They only play the starters the first few minutes of the exibition games, and preserve them for the real thing later. There is still a whole season ahead.

Oh yeah! Does Brett Farve ring a bell. He skipped the entire training camp, and just to join the Viks after the bell is ring. Experience guy don’t need much practice. He just need to memorized the playbook and go to war.

Rollonubears – I agree wholeheartedly with you. Things concerning Best’s injury aren’t as you are being told. I suspect it is broken, fractured or a ligament.

“Jeff Tedford confirmed after the scrimmage that starting tomorrow, media will only be allowed to view the first 20 minutes and final 10 minutes of practice.”

That policy goes into effect tomorrow.
