Cal only really knows how to win at Memorial, so I don’t see anything changing. I don’t think time’s really going to be a factor in this game. Take into account these are all college students and I doubt a majority of them go to sleep before midnight on a regular basis anyways. If they’re capable of partying until 3 in the morning, they’re capable of resting the entire day and playing football until 1. While their offensive line is new, ours isn’t really a veteran line. I figure they’re both going to be about equal, but ours with a little advantage just because we’ve seen some of our guys play and know what to expect. I’m relieved that Heyward-Bey is gone, that guy was a freak. I say a hungry Riley with a year under his belt and full of confidence is a good one to have as QB. We win this one, and win it big. But not USC big.

I’m thinking the night game is going to help Cal since it will be after midnight, their time, when this thing ends.

The combination of spent emotion and X-country travel will take its toll about the 3rd Q. I expect the game to be decided by then but if it isn’t, it will soon be because of this.

Cal doesn’t travel well — Tennessee, MD, & KSU for example — and others don’t travel well to Berkeley; such as Tennessee. Talent will be the main factor but don’t underestimate the impact of travel on either last year’s contest or this year’s.

I’ll predict Cal 38- Maryland 21 (their 4th Qtr scrubs will score a TD vs. our 4th qtr scrubs).

I’m telling you, I was at the Maryland game last year and it was freaking HUMID! That alone was why Cal lost that game. I felt like I was melting in the stands, I couldn’t imagine having to run around for 2 1/2 hours all out in that humidity! If I lived there I may have been able to adapt to it. But Berkeley or California for that matter has never seen humidity like that.

So we will finally be able to see the two teams play on a more equal footing.

Don’t overlook Maryland. I still do not think your OL is that good. It is very unproven with a new center, two new guards, one tackle that didn’t play last year and new TEs. That’s a lot inexperience and to give a team 21 points is calling for a blow out. This isn’t UW or WSU. They also have a proven QB who wins big games and a couple of RBs that are very good.
