Cal85,

Let's not forget to give props to Ludwig. I liked what I saw as far as play calling. He's not having Riley do too much, which is allowing Riley to show that he can throw. He just needs to settle in, keep his confidence up, and not be afraid of having to look over his shoulder.

Remember, 2 years ago we had Tedford calling plays and then Cignetti last year. Both seasons, the offense stalled at times, due some very poor play calling in my opinion that did not take advantage of all our weapons.

If Ludwig got Utah to beat Alabama, he's gotta' be like a kid in a candy shop with CAL. I can't wait to see what he does with the rest of this season!!!!

I'm trying to contain myself after last weekend's game. Maryland isn't $C, but we've had troubles executing against weaker teams in the past. It was great to see so many pieces falling into place. In addition to the points mentioned above, I'll add:

- KR completing 3rd down throws and throws on the run. I can't quantify how many 3rd & shorts we had last year that we didn't convert, but it was a huge relief to see us complete those little dinks that keep the drive alive.

- Vareen & Deboskie's contributions will add dog years to Best's play time. While I'd love Jahvid to play every down, I'm suspicious that he can or that it would be best for him. Having two threats behind him doesn't allow defenses any breaks.

- How many playmaking LBs can we have? Thank God for names on the backs so that I can figure out who's making plays. I thought that the Bears would miss Follett's big play stops, but there were literally too many to name during the 2nd quarter.

- O-line, we all assume they'll be good because they always seem to do well, but there was a lot of youth out there and they opened up some huge lanes for the RBs.

On the downside, I love Giorgio, but we've got to get KO's deeper. Speaking of kicking, I think this is the first time I've ever seen us rest the punter in a blowout. I guess that's just another indicator of his value.

I was also a little concerned about our rush defense, but I'd love to be picking nits about one rushing TD and the lead back gaining 90 yards.

Ah, when will Saturday be here?

Go Bears!

Getting back on topic, when Holley carried that Terp on his back for 3 yards, I didn't believe what I saw. Holley looked great, and so did Kapp. Looks like this team is a bunch of fast learners...

While I always appreciate a fact-filled slam on $C, I wonder how it has ANYTHING to do with JO's post?

Sorry, it just seems so random...

Will see how Matt deal with the speed of the OSU defense and the noise at Columbus. And, How he will compare with Pryro. Um! He will not stand a chance.

Although, I root for a Pac-10 win. But, I don't think Matt will stand a chance given his stats as a senior in high school. In his last game in high school, he had 1 TD, but 4 interceptions and a lost. With SJS, he hasn't proof any thing yet. He didn't have to do much to gain those yardage in that game.
