Just about all of this is coaching. Bob Gregory played a prevent defense from the first quarter on. That gave Masoli all day to throw. With only 3 Cal rushers, he could wait until a receiver broke free, and then just play catch. On offense, Cal’s best weapon (Best) is shackled while our worst weapon (Riley and his stone-fingered receivers) got free reign.

Cal has big talent on the field (Riley and his receivers excepted), all being coached by the Keystone Kops on the bench. I’m starting to believe that Tedford has to go. Cal was foolish giving him an extension to 2015.

i forgot about the 2pt conversion. that was the nail in the coffin, i think. tedhead has earned 15mm coaching this team. more than enough to retire. thanks for turning the program around. i think he got the better end of the deal, and has left a nice legacy. now it’s time to get back to the way things were before the students stopped shaving their underarms. go bears.

Sloppy, overmatched and unprepared. Worst of all, predictable. I thought Longshore was gone and we have a quarterback who can move. Why then does Tedford not have Riley rolling out or using play action instead of the same old off-tackle and I-formation plays that get stuffed every time. We played right into Oregon’s defense game plan. With our team speed we should be getting outside more and spreading the defense.

With all the great talent we have had at Cal the past few years it’s so disappointing every year to come into a season so highly regarded by the press and Corso and Herbie then collapse. Tedford has unfortunately earned the mantle of “can’t win on the road and chokes in the big games” and we seem to play not to lose instead of going after the win like Oregon did to us. Their two-point conversion call was brilliant. Tedford remains way too conservative and yes, predictable. Being a Cal Football fan has become a painful ritual.
