Exactly, Rollon!
Everyone talks about how crucial guard play is in college hoops, but you still gotta be able to push the opposition off the block, and you need bigs that force the opposing defense to sag and not simply play the perimeter.
The sad part about this situation is that Montgomery has been able to recruit only 1 big to this point for 2010. So, the thin situation looks like it may continue for some time. Any decent big looking for playing time should give Cal a serious look.

Cole Adrich is 6'11" and 245, projected as the #4 overall NBA draft pick next year. Who's gonna guard him? And it will be interesting to get a look at redshirt Freshman transfer from Arizona U. Jeff Withey for the first time. He was rated the #8 center as a senior, but then sat out a year. Though a freshman, he will be stronger and ready to go. He's 7'0". They have another 6'9" sophomore center who started 7 games last year for good measure.

Christopher will have to guard Xavier 6'6" freshman Xavier Henry, projected to be the 19th pick after his obligatory college season. Randle will have to try and contain super quick and strong Sherron Collins, projected as the 28th overall draft pick.

AND the game is in Lawrence.

But hey - Appy St. beat Michigan in the Big House, so, "that's why they play the games". And you and I will be rooting our hearts out for our beloved Golden Bears.

if we go into kansas and escape with a win, i think we'll get a lot more recognition. unfortunately, prognosticators have got to expect us to perform on the court the same way we perform on the field, and that means losing all the big games. i sure hope this season is different, but it's basically the same team, with a few more injuries and a few more inexperienced players. can we really expect randle and robertson to shoot 80% from beyond the arc? we still have no post presence, and we're going to get dominated by anyone who does.

At first blush, I was going to say, "that's right", as I think the Bears are over-rated at this point. However, if you were picking a team right now, who would you take, Patrick Christopher or Malcolm Lee? I think that one is rather obvious. Sure, Lee is going to be relied on a lot, as UCLA is slight in the back court this season. So, it's a nice stretch comment to make notice of his expected big improvement this year, but that's taking it too far, DeCourcey.
