Basketball: Cal recruiting target at Stanford today

Anthony Brown, rated among the top wing prospects in the country, is visiting Stanford this weekend and expects to decide among the Cardinal, UCLA and Cal within a few weeks, scout.com reported.

Brown, a 6-foot-6 senior from Huntington Beach, refuted rumors that he has eliminated Cal from his final three.

“All three are even,” Brown told scout.com. “Definitely, I hear a lot of, ‘Oh, he’s going to UCLA hands down, or Stanford hands down,’ but all three schools are even.”

Brown, expected to play shooting guard in college, is rated the No. 62 overall prospect in the country and the No. 5 shooting guard by rivals.com. Scout.com has Brown as the No. 7 small forward prospect, the No. 41 prospect overall.

Football: Greetings from Autzen Stadium

Hi, everyone. Up here in the press box now at Autzen Stadium. It’s an absolutely gorgeous day. Should be the opposite of last year’s mud bowl in Berkeley.

I’ll be back with some links in a bit. One thing I’m watching this morning is how Syd’Quan Thompson is warming up. When the Bears arrived, he appeared to be walking pretty gingerly. But he’s now out on the field doing some jogging. I’ll update his status as soon as I know more.

Football: Friday afternoon links

Well, after a flight into Portland and too long of a drive down to Eugene, I’m finally here. Here are some links:

–Jokester Jeremy Ross is ready to seriously produce.

–Here’s a transcript from Thursday’s live chat.

–ESPN.com’s Ted Miller on Jahvid Best.

–Oregon is taking an us-against-the-world mentality.

The running game, on both sides, could decide Saturday’s game.

–Jahvid Best and Kevin Riley are all grown up.

–Oregon feels like their linebackers are fast enough to contain Jahvid Best.
