I wouldn’t say Minn. is chopped liver. They are 3-1, same record as U$C. They haven’t played elite teams, except for Cal. They won two away games.

The problem is that Riley really isn’t a playmaker and Best can’t do it alone. Minnesota, by the way, wasn’t that good a team. What we really need is a stellar performance by Riley and the offensive line, protecting him and opening things up for Best, and by the coaching staff. Man,they had better have it in high gear for the Trojans because otherwise it will be ugly. (BTW, Rivals picks the bears by three over the Trojans.)

Despite the Oregon score, I think our defense is stout. In recent losses, I don’t think scores reflected how well our defense played–they were just on the field too often and inevitably suffered breakdowns.

I’m looking for dynamism on offense. We have the talent. The sets we ran in the first quarter of the Minnesota game were great: spread the field, use our speed, create multiple options from similar looks. I’m not sure where it all went against the Ducks.

This team has great potential. We’ve gotta rise to the occasion.
