I gave you the Sporting News’ nationals picks a couple weeks ago, but just got my hands on their Pac-10 predictions. TSN tabs Washington to win the conference, with Cal second. UCLA is third, followed by Oregon, Arizona, Oregon State, Washington State, USC, Stanford and Arizona State.
TSN’s five-man all-conference squad: Jerome Randle and Patrick Christopher of Cal, Isaiah Thomas and Quincy Pondexter of Washington and Nic Wise of Arizona.

So, is this like saying that Quincy Pondexter is the top “Big Man” in the Pac?
Chuckle. These 5 represent three 1′s, one 2, and one 3. Quincy is really a 3 playing out of position at 4.
If nobody else has any bigs, Cal may win league just yet.

I think Cal has what it takes to win the league since I believe that there are few great bigs in the league this year. I don’t think they have what it takes to go deep in the tournament though.

“I don’t think they have what it takes to go deep in the tournament though.”
…and by extension, they may have trouble against their non-conference opponents with good/deep frontcourts: Syracuse, UNC/Ohio St, Iowa State. And if Cal doesn’t do well in the non-con, it will be tough to get a top-5 seed in the tournament.
