Basketball: Randle rated as No. 11 point guard

Gary Parrish of CBS Sportsline has rated the nation’s point guards, and places Cal senior Jerome Randle at No. 11.

Fair enough, but Parrish has Washington’s Isaiah Thomas at No. 9, despite explaining that Thomas will move off the ball to shooting guard this season with the arrival of freshman Adbul Gaddy, whom Parrish ranks as the No. 13 PG.

Here’s Parrish’s full list.

  • uh oh.

Oh my. I just saw a couple photos of Randle during practice last week. He HAS gotten bigger.
Makes me think of the time I got into the weight room, and then emerged with lost touch on my jump shot.
Here’s hoping the same doesn’t happen to Jerome, as it’s not uncommon for guys to bulk up and then realize they were actually better on the frame their brain was accustomed to working with (coordinating all the fine details of a jump shot). Seems to me Richard Midgley fit into that category a few years ago when the very same strength trainer got ahold of him. At least, that was my opinion of “before” and “after” from the stands.
