Cal is back in the Associated Press top 25, checking in this week at No. 23. The Bears were ranked the first four weeks of the season but fell out after losing to USC. They spent three weeks unranked.

#20 in BCS. Solid. Keep winning, Bears. A lot of football left to be played.

I would have preferred it if the pollsters would have left Cal alone this week. After all, the Bears do not have a win against any Division 1 team with a winning record this year outside of Minnesota. I think these kids play better when they have a chip on their shoulders, and disrepect from the rankings is good motivation. I just read that Oregon State’s pass defense is ranked 116th out of 120 D-1 teams this year. I am guessing Oregon State will follow the conventional wisdom and load up the box to stop Best, which might put Riley’s name back into the discussions about the Pac 10’s best quarterbacks if he has another 300 yard plus day.
