While Cal was watching videotape of Ohio State . . .
AROUND THE PAC-10
Nic Wise had 15 points, seven assists, five steals and five turnovers and Arizona (2-0) beat Ben Braun’s Rice squad, 66-49 in Tucson . . . Sophomore Klay Thompson had a career-high 37 points (15-for-20 FGs) and Washington State (3-0) beat IPFW 89-71, despite the fact that no one else scored more than seven points.
THE NATIONAL SCENE
No. 1 Kansas will win most of the time when it outscores the opposition 33-3 from the 3-point line. That’s what happened in the Jayhawks’ 94-44 win over Central Arkansas . . . Kentucky’s starters scored all the club’s points in a 102-92 defeat of Sam Houston State. Freshman guard John Wall had 21 points, six assists and six turnovers.
LOCAL HERO
Former St. Mary’s HS-Berkeley star Larry Gurganious, a tranfer from Gonzaga, had 21 points and nine rebounds as UC Riverside scored an 87-71 win over La Verne, playing without Shirley.

Dude, get some sleep. You are providing heroic coverage, and I truly appreciate it, but really, this was posted at 5am!
Like I said yesterday, a loss to Cuse doesn’t tell us everything because of absences. Watching both games yesterday, Syracuse played by far the best game of the 4 teams.
NC won based on size, talent and not on execution. We should play much better against Ohio State than Cuse just because they are not as athletic or effective in their defense.
We’ll see.

What is the story with Theo? Why didn’t he get his foot x-rayed or scanned when it was hurting on Tuesday? Isn’t that something they would do right away?

Thanks for the kind words, CalBear91. It has been an exhausting trip, owing to the start on a red-eye flight. But I must fess up, that 5 a.m. post actually was 8 a.m. EST here this morning. I was in bed by 2 a.m.
