The blocked punt by Stanford’s Chase Thomas was the first time Cal had a punt blocked since last year against UCLA.

OK, folks, I know you guys were upset with me for complaining last week, but don’t you think those 2 wildcat plays in a row from the 3 yard line were predictable and stupid?! Didn’t work last week either! So frustrating! Ugh!

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT ALL SEASON? JUST POWER RUN THE BALL – IT IS WORKING, IT KEEPS STANFORD’S OFFENSE OFF THE FIELD, AND WE WILL WIN. BUT NO!!!!

Yes, the running game is working, but not so much from the wildcat formation. It’s so much better when they mix it up, and Deboskie-Johnson is pretty good too.
On a positive note, the defense looks solid, except for that one long run by Gerhart. But for some errors by offense/special teams (blocked punt, interception) and the wasted opportunity with the 2 consecutive wildcat plays at the 3 yard line, we’d probably be winning. Love that slot pass to Lagemann — seems to work every time. We have more yards and more time of possession — now let’s just hope we get more points in the second half. GO BEARS!

Yes the Wildcat is stupid. A couple times, fine. Maybe then hand to Sofele. Maybe a sweep pass (if WIDE) open. It’s over-coaching… they think they are being really creative. They are not.
Plus you giving Vereen a beating on low return plays. They’re wearing him out. If he is fresh in 4th quarter, he WILL break one.
