Please don’t compare Max to Wilkes. Max has 3 inches on him, but Wilkes had such a greater basketball knowledge and could hit face up jumpers and pass from the high post. Where they are similar is both really tall and neither as strong on the board as we’d like them to be.

Wow, Kamp is out? Bummer. Cal really needed him but I know he’ll be back and stronger.

It just means MSF, Amoke and Max have to step up. Amoke is there. I think Max can do okay (4 pts. 4 rbs, 1 blocked shot in 20 mins., Jordan Wilkes territory) as the back-up (he has to) but he can’t carry the load.

Markurri has to step-up fast, get rebs and stop fouling (play with his feet not his hands). He can do it (he has to).

The pre-season now is about setting up the line-up and prepping for the Pac-10 season.

Thank you for the timely updates and other information on Pac-10 basketball. This has been very useful in keeping in touch with the season, including downloading a quick update from Haas just before gametime to answer questions like “Where’s Sanders-Frison”.

Amoke still looks rough on offense and somehow (at least in person) his rebounding does not stand out. Hopefully he can continue the same on the tough road games the next couple of weeks and in Pac-10 play. With Kamp likely out for the season, Amoke and Sanders-Frison need to be glass cleaners and create a physical presense.
