Basketball: Game-day links and a TV appearance
By Jeff Faraudo
Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at 12:35 pm in Basketball, Gameday.
I will be appearing tonight on Comcast Sports Net’s “Chronicle Live,” along with Cal basketball coach Mike Montgomery, athletic director Sandy Barbour, Cal radio play-by-play man Roxy Bernstein, Cal running back Shane Vereen and others.
The program will begin at 5 p.m. from Haas Pavilion, leading into the Bears’ 7:30 p.m. game against Oregon.
Here’s a link to my story from this morning’s editions, with Jerome Randle apologizing for playing hurt Saturday at Washington, and talking about his relationship with Oregon senior Tajuan Porter.
Also, a look at Oregon associate head coach Mike Dunlap, hired by head coach Ernie Kent to help reverse last year’s 8-23 disaster.

1. Way to stick your neck out (interrupt a bit) and say (ASU, USC, UW, or Cal)
2. Your mic guy needed to turn down the echo effect.
3. You’re saying that UW doesn’t stand out b/c they only have 2 excellent players and a bunch of so-so’s… Hmmm. Let’s say Isaiah Thomas cancels out Randle, Pondexter cancels out Christopher, Gutierrez cancels out Overton, and, well, I suppose Theo trumps Holiday. But then, who would you rather have? Gant, MBA and Breshers, or Boykin, Max, and MSF? Anyways, it all sounds rather even to me!
4. USC won’t win b/c of motivation issues down the stretch? Interesting. I didn’t think that would matter so much, as guys play for pride, no?
5. Cal gets your nod because they have 4 seniors? I guess it’s as good of a reason as any. But, I’ll feel better after watching us get some more quality wins in a row, starting with tonight!
Nice job, JF. It was good to see you on TV.
Monty’s bit: interesting him not knowing about Randle’s knee injury – or at least the extent to which Randle stated recently.
Interesting that Monty limited his comments on the lack of size question (outside-in vs inside-out) to THIS team. I SOOO wanted to ask him what’s going on with getting that recruit – b/c otherwise his answer will be “no” again for years to come until he does get the (big) bodies he desires.
GO BEARS. WIN TONIGHT!!!
