Football: On-campus visit

By Jonathan Okanes

Kaelin Clay, a wide receiver from Long Beach Poly, will be visiting Cal this weekend. Clay is rated as the 53rd-best wide receiver in the country by rivals.com. Rivals has him as a three-star recruit while scout.com lists him as a two-star prospect. According to both sources, Clay only has offers from Utah State, Portland State and Northern Arizona.

We need to hurry about and get the SPAC built to improve our recruiting momentum again. Finishing the season strong wouldn’t hurt either. Nevertheless, I will always be interested in Long Beach Poly skill position players. Come on Kailen!

And if by chance he should make it into the NFL you can be the only program in America that has two WRs claiming Long Beach Ploy as their school of choice.

Not excited about this. It is apparent that Tedford won’t likely be able to close this class close out with high quality recruits, and will have to drop down a level or two to get some bodies in here. Sad, and the results on the field will probably be sad too.

Dan I agree -gee we are now competing with Northern Arizona for recruits.

  • Bears

I don’t care how many stars a recruit has or what programs a player we recruit is being offered by. What matters is what these players bring to the program. If they impact it in a positive way to produce wins/championships that’s all that matters.
Whoever signs with Cal is another class brought in by our staff. They will be judged by the performance of the players they recruit. So far, the past 8 years have been pretty good. I’d say they have brought in some very good players. Upgade the QB position and defense and we will see a Pac 10 title soon enough.
Close strong in the recruiting game Bears! (although we won’t know how good or bad the class is for a while, can’t be judged right away)

Anyone notice that DeSean Jackson always give Long Beach Poly as his alma mater rathr than Cal? Either he is really proud of being a high school graduate or is still ticked off at Tedford for some perceived slight, although Tedford claims he praised Jackson to NFL teams who inquired about him.

  • Calduke

Clay has given a verbal commitment to Cal

I hope this one from LBP has a better attitude than the last one. You all know how that one played out. Maybe this one might even have a big play against USC.
