Basketball: Syracuse roars past Georgetown

THE NATIONAL SCENE
No. 7 Georgetown (15-4) jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but No. 4 Syracuse (20-1) recovered by halftime and went on to win 73-56, sparked by 24 points from its bench . . . Center Cole Aldrich had 12 points and 16 rebounds and No. 2 Kansas (19-1) stayed perfect in the Big 12 with an 84-65 win over Missouri (15-5).
LOCAL HEROES
Mario Flaherty (Millbrae-Mills HS) had 17 points and 14 rebounds in Houston Baptist’s 84-73 loss to Texas-Arlington.
