AROUND THE PAC-10
Saturday’s schedule . . .
– Cal at Oregon, 3 p.m., CSNCA: The Bears (17-9, 9-5) squandered the one-game lead they had in the loss column when they got taken apart at Oregon State. Now they must handle business against the Ducks (12-13, 4-9), losers of four straight games and alone in last place.
– Stanford at Oregon State, noon, FSN: Can the Cardinal (12-14, 6-8) win again on the road after getting its first of the season Thursday at Oregon? OSU (12-13, 6-7) has beaten Arizona and Cal in its past two games and suddenly looks formidable.
– USC at Washington State, 2 p.m.: The Trojans (16-7, 8-5) are ineligible for the postseason, but no one told them they can’t win the Pac-10. They’re in second place right now, just a half-game back in the win column. The Cougars (15-11, 5-9) have slipped to ninth place after three straight defeats.
– UCLA at Washington, 6 p.m.: The Bruins (12-13, 7-6) whipped WSU by 20 on Thursday, but beating the angry Huskies (17-9, 7-7), two days after they lost to USC, may be a different story. UCLA won 62-61 when the teams played at Pauley Pavilion.
Sunday’s schedule . . .
– Arizona State at Arizona, 2:30 p.m.: The Sun Devils (18-8, 8-5),tied for second as Saturday begins, try to beat rival Arizona (13-12, 7-6), which overpowered them 77-58 at Tempe last month.
– Pac-10 standings: Cal 9-5, Arizona State 8-5, USC 8-5, Arizona 7-6, UCLA 7-6, Washington 7-7, Oregon State 6-7, Stanford 6-8, Washington State 5-9, Oregon 4-9.
