Real nice article on Calvin JO. I really enjoyed it.

This kid seems to have a good head on his shoulders, hopefully he can get pack the mental block and excel on the field this year. I remember being really psyched when he committed way back in the day.

Hey JO, have you considered doing something similar to what Jeff does on the basketball blog, and doing more player “20 question” sessions? I think those would be really fun. I’m always interested to learn what kids major in, and what classes and local eateries they like.

Man, that story on Kevin Parker is really lovely. He deserves a lot of credit for the work he does. That’s really amazing. All of us who have been around the east bay know that it is a rough place where not a lot of kids are afforded mentorship or guidance. And someone taking time out of their life to help kids in this way, it’s really inspiring.

Lynch also deserves props for his foundation. He always gets blasted when his name comes up in the press. But people take for granted the life experiences that people, especially athletes live through, before they become famous. And even if someone has a hard up brining and they have their demons to deal with – when they give back to the community to help others – well, you can’t hate on that.

Kind friends and fellow posters, the Wisdomcow has created an ncaa tournament challenge group on espn’s website. Sign up, we can then rag on each other when our brackets get busted.

JO, that’d be awesome if you signed up.

The group name is “Bay Area Bracket”

A round of applause for Kevin Parker, keeping it real and keeping those kids on track. Ironically Coach Parker is an UO alum, which I think is news worthy given how UO is behaving recently.

Really nice to know that Cal football is taking the development of these kids seriously with the great staff like Parker, the Academic Game Plan and a no BS policy.

What I hear about Lynch can’t be excused by upbringing and environment. Whe he signed that contract that set him for life if he merely played it straight, he needed to stop driving drunk with guns, fleeing after hitting pedestrians and stealing $20 from restaurant tables. Too many kids that grew up in circumstances like his live like they know the difference between right and wrong. I’m glad he set up a foundation, but he also needs to set an example. It also looks like he’s not for long in the nfl. Perhaps a visit to AA wouldn’t hurt.

If we go visit San Quintin, will we meet Gary Doxy and RJ Garrett?

Hard to put into words what a great example KP is for players and fans alike. There are worthy things to be accomplished in life that have nothing to do with what happens on the field or in your bank account. Thanks for sharing the article, I’m forwarding it to some of the at-risks youths that I work with.
