Cal senior Jerome Randle was named one of 26 finalists for the John Wooden Award, given to the nation’s top player.
Only four players from the West — Randle, Gonzaga’s Matt Bouldin, BYU’s Jimmer Fredette and New Mexico’s Darington Hobson — were included on the final ballot.
My top-3 votes: 1) Evan Turner, Ohio State; 2) John Wall, Kentucky; 3) Wesley Johnson, Syracuse.

Big honor for Randle to be a finalist and among 26 players nationwide to be in the running. Let’s hope that his last college games turn out to be his best.
