Football: Best headed to New York

Some of you may have seen that Jahvid Best is on the list of of players that will be in attendance for next week’s NFL Draft. I talked with Best today for a draft story I will run next week and he confirmed he will be there.

Best said he’s bringing about 15 family members with him. He’ll arrive on Tuesday and the NFL has a full agenda for him and the other plays in attendance. After the draft, Best plans on being a tourist for a couple days with his family and exploring New York City. He said he’s never been to the Big Apple (he, of course, would have liked to have paid a visit in December for the Heisman ceremony).

Best said he was told he is considered a possible first-round pick. He was told he was invited because of his personality and character.

He is a very good interview. I can see why they invited him. Even if he falls to the early second round, he won’t be depressed. He’ll still give a good interview and probably still demonstrate his excitement over just knowing he will be drafted.

I must add, after starting to write this and realizing just how personable he is, I bet he does go in the first round because his NFL interviews probably were a huge plus.

I could see him end up a Niner if they trade down with one of those 2 first rounders should all the OTs they covet, Spiller and Haden are off the board.

i think i’d be a niner fan again, if they drafted best. that’d be pretty awesome.

Nah let the cowboys, texans or green bay get him. The first two are so Cal can get a bit of publicity in Texas and maybe help recruiting. GB is so he can team up with Rodgers.

No one wants a Boller / Best backfield in Oakland?

  • rollonubears

i’m stunned boller continues to find work in the league. stunned he ever got drafted in the first place. i’m not a raider fan, but boller is the last guy you want running your offense. he can throw the ball 70 yards from his knees though. apparently, that’s worth a million bucks a year.

I remember seeing Kyle Boller on campus one time. There was a drove of blondes with him. It was like out of a movie.

With the seventh pick, the oakland raiders select, jahvid best…

Stone cold lock, my beloved raiders will draft Best.

QB drafted into the NFL is highly speculative. If you put up big numbers and win, and have the skill set, you will get drafted and paid a lot because it is the most important position. Boller did that, like a whole bunch of guys. The transition to the NFL isn’t a set path but given one excellent QB can turn around a team or put in position, risks will be taken on draft day.

Also, the fact Boller can toss the ball far, you have to think Al Davis loves that, like in the old days…get a couple of super fast guys and heave the rock.

If that be true, I will be a Raider Fan. But, I am very doubtful that Al will pick a local kid.

    Go Best! First round.
