Football: Best ready for big day

Jahvid Best is now in New York City. Either tomorrow or Friday, his life will dramatically change as he embarks on his NFL career.

Some Best notes:

  • He had just one individual workout after Pro Day, with Cleveland. He also met with offiicials with San Diego, New England and the New York Jets.
  • Best said he was going to bring about 15 family members to New York with him.
  • Best, on his reaction when the NFL’s Gil Brandt called him to invite him to New York: “He told me I could take my time, call him back in a couple days. I said, ‘I can tell you right now, the answer is yes.'”
  • Best’s agent, Tony Flemming, said there will be two rooms for the players to wait in during the draft — the usual green room with cameras but then another private room if players don’t want to be on camera while they wait. That is to avoid those Aaron Rodgers-type situations from a few years ago when there is just one player left in the green room waiting for his name to be called.

Aaron Rogers deserved better, but then the niners are searching for their first playoffs in heaven knows how long so they got exactly what they deserved for that inexplicable blunder. no offense but Smith was and is no much for Rogers, who in my humble opinion, when it is all said and done will rewrite some records. For instance, back to back 4000+ passing yards in his first two season as a starter (i believe its been quite sometime since someone accomplished that), and if i remember correctly last time i watched him play, his team was trailing by 21 pts early in the 3rd in what was his very first playoff and had to poise to orchestrate a comeback and forced overtime. if it wasn’t some nasty play calling by the refs in his last possession, and had won the game such a comeback would have been the first of its kind in the nfl history. Stay tuned Cal fans, cuz Mr. Rogers is here to stay.
