They should know what happened in the Social Welfare department. Outside of Haas, more basketball players gather around there than any other place on campus. LOL.

I guess we are never going to know the whole story of this episode. But, if it had been a criminal matter, as was rumored, it would have been in the news and well publicized well before now, so I suppose that is the good news.

Suffice it to say that Cal handled this with the utmost integrity and had only one option given the nature and scope (key word) of the offense. I’ll leave it to others to get into details if they want. This is one of those instances where you sever ties and move on without looking back.

I have no idea what he did. Clearly, the athletic department handled it completely different from other schools. While it would be a shame to publicize Amoke’s misfortune, I would like like to know more, if only to be able to compare how Cal handled things compared to other corporate-sponsored programs.

Good message sent by Monty – we’re not going to wait for criminal charges to be filed before dismissing a player (one who would have been a key component on this next year’s squad) if you violate the rules.

Amoke’s still a kid. I sincerely hope he learns from this.

Don’t feel for the kid at all. He made a conscious decision to do what he did (and, if rumors are true, made that decision time and time again). He didn’t do it to put food on the table to feed his starving family. He did it b/c he’s a moron. And before we start blathering about youthful indiscretion, there are many, many, many people walking the earth today that didn’t make that mistake or a similar mistake when they were 20 years old. Bottom line — he’s reached the age of consent, made a really bad mistake and is now paying the penalty….Moving on.
